A blog to keep you up to date with what's happening in our class

Knowledge Net

April7

Our new inquiry is based on the central idea that exploring interests helps us to discover personal values and shapes confidence and self.

Today we spent some time working out what an inquiry cycle might look like as well as developing a generic one that the whole class could relate to.

inquiry2 inquiry 1 After renaming Genius Hour as Knowledge Net, we spent some time talking about the kinds of things you could research and the things we would need to consider.

Knowledge Net

Considerations

~ It has to help with education, ours or someone else’s, because that is the business we are in

~ We need to develop a guiding question. We are very comfortable with Central Ideas, so this is no biggie

~ It needs to involve research, and a lot of it. If we can Google it and get the answer easily, then we need to rethink our plans

~ We want to share our work, and share it widely

Options

~ Learn about something e.g. swimming legends

~ Learn to do something e.g. draw better cartoons or caricatures

~ Learn to make something e.g. a dress from our own design, cheese

~ Learn to create something e.g. how to make special effects in movies, how to write a great song

~ Learn to test something e.g. a rocket

~ Learn to change something e.g. how to encourage a healthier lifestyle
