Reminder

Hope you have all enjoyed the holidays with your children.

Just a quick reminder that school begins again on TUESDAY as Monday is a Pupil Free Day. See you on Tuesday :)

Where has Mrs Bryan been?

Hi, I hope you are all enjoying today with your children, maybe at the show, or just enjoying the Spring weather.
As you probably know, I have been at home recovering from knee surgery this week.
On Monday I will be joining the Year 1/2 teachers at an Interactive Whiteboard training session and on Tuesday I will be joining all the Junior Primary teachers on a literacy training session.
These should be a good test of my knee, and how it holds up after a day of work (although I’ll be mainly sitting all day).
I hope to be returning to the classroom on Wednesday, with lots of new and interesting ideas. :)
Thanks to Janita and Gillian for ‘holding the fort’.

Show Day Reminder

Our Show Day is scheduled for Friday, 11 September 2009. OSHC will be open if there are at least 25 bookings. Please book your place ASAP to help ensure that OSHC is available for your children.

Bee Safe on Bikes

On Tuesday we had our first session of Bee safe on Bikes. The children all had a great time. They learnt how to put on their helmets correctly, make sure their clothing was safe for riding and see how to get on the bike safely. Once on and ready they rode up and back showing their stopping skills. When they had done this successfully they played a stopping game. Everyone was very proud of their achievements. Check out the photos below to see the fun that they had! Our bike lessons will continue for another 3 weeks each Tuesday. Don’t forget to bring your bike and helmet! Also, dont forget to wear comfy clothes and shoes. We found that skirts don’t work very well when riding a bike!
The last photo is of one of the activities that our class did for BookWeek. Each day we visited a different class for a special activity.

SOS

Desperately seeking plastic drink bottles with lids (like soft drink bottles). They’re needed for Thursdays Science Week activities. I need about 21 of them please – and I forgot and did my recycling on the weekend! Many thanks :)

Photos

Just a quick reminder that school photos are taking place this Monday, 17th August.

Please remember to send money in the photo envelope if you wish to purchase photos this year.

Countries

Check out the new page with lots of online interactive activities on countries.

Holidays

What a  busy and productive term we have had! The amphitheatre is still looking great and we continue to receive positive comments about the work that you have put into this project.

Over the last couple of days the children have been discussing ice skating at school – a flow on from Disney on Ice. I’m pretty sure that most of the children are keen to try it for themselves now, and they suggested that I could take them as a class trip. I’m sorry but I advised them to ask you to take them…so brace yourselves :)

Anyway, regardless of what you do, I hope that you enjoy the holidays with your children.

Stories

Many thanks to Fiona and Chantal for very promptly typing the children’s stories. There is a new batch ready to read now :)

Stories, stories, stories

Some children were very inspired by last night’s home work. They were asked to write a story using a coloured ball, a horse and a spider. The children wanted to publish their stories so we decided to add a page to this blog especially for this purpose.  You will find it on the left hand side of this page called ‘Our Stories’. We hope you enjoy reading the stories. Please leave a comment if you can as I’m sure the children would love to hear what you think of their work.

The punctuation used is the children’s own and I have not corrected it :)
