Multisensory approach

A multi-sensory approach encourages permanent sound-symbol associations.

They see it, they hear it, they say it, and they write it.

  1. Look at the word ~are there any small words? Are there any tricky letters?
  2. Read it out loud.
  3. Spell it out loud. Now spell it again and write it in the air with your eyes shut.
  4. Cover the word.
  5. Say and spell the word from memory.
  6. Write the word. Spell it out loud as you do this.
  7. Check the spelling. Spell it out loud as you do this.
  8. Repeat ALL of these steps 3 times, and again in a fortnight.
