Help your brain!

Ways to help your brain ( to help you.)

Eat breakfast

Drink lots of water

Eat unprocessed fruit at fruit time

Eat a variety of snacks at recess and lunch.

Eat a variety of food at other meals.

Make sure that you get enough sleep – REM sleep is important for making memory (consolidating the things you have learnt during the day.)

Make sure that you get enough exercise to supply your brain with oxygenated blood.

The best brain foods include: fish, eggs, dark green vegetables, chicken, soy, fruit, olive oils, whole grain bread and pasta, brown ice, milk and yoghurt.

Good grazing foods include popcorn, oatmeal biscuits, carrot sticks, celery sticks, low fat yoghurt, cheese and fruit.

Good sources of antioxidants (to help protect your brain against free radicals) include berries, prunes, spinach, tomato products (sauce, paste, actual tomatoes), broccoli, dark grapes, black currant juice, dark chocolate.
