Fantastic Fives

A blog to keep you up to date with what's happening in our class

Camp

July29

Today your child should bring home 4 notes stapled together related to  our camp. Please ask them for them 🙂

The invoices are due to be paid two weeks before camp, so by Monday 5th September. You may of course pay earlier, or arrange with Sue Matthews to pay by instalment if you prefer.

We would appreciate it if the medical note, consent and dietary requirements tear off slip are returned as soon as you are able, whether you have paid or not. This will help with the paperwork that we need to send to the campsite in the next couple of weeks.

Its really important that you let us know anything that may arise on camp eg if your child sleepwalks, if your child has any phobias, if your child will only eat a very limited range of food. This is your opportunity to let us know of anything that you think we may need to know in order to care for your child for three days.

We will send home a list of things to pack closer to the camp.

We’re beginning to get a little excited!

Camp

September21

What a fantastic camp we had. Thanks so much to the wonderful volunteers who came along and helped out. The children were really well behaved and great representatives of our school.

The weather was kind to us, and the activities were great fun as expected. All the children kept an open mind and tried everything. Well done.

We have nearly all recovered now and are working hard towards Exhibition.

Watch out for head lice though, as we have had a case reported since returning from camp.

40 Hour Famine

September11

What a glorious day it was to be outside today. We all loved the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather, while raising money for a good cause.

Tonight I have the pleasure of seeing several of our students perform in the Festival Choir. Next week we go on one of the best camps I have ever been on. What a life!

Camp

August29

Camp is about 2 weeks away and we are getting very excited. We have started to look at dormitory configurations and will be working out activity groups very soon.Yesterday your child should have brought home 4 forms related to camp. One is a list of items to bring. (Please note that we are not allowing any lollies or money.) The other three forms are consent and health forms. Students will not need bathers or towel, but the Aquatics form is necessary as we will be participating in rowing. The row boats require the skills of a Viking. It is challenging for students, and amusing for the adults, to see the teams work together to move the vessel in an agreed direction.
Don’t forget, the camp fee is due to be paid by the end of this week.
We will be leaving and returning to school during normal school times. On the morning of our camp please leave all luggage at the front steps.

Camp

November22

We are all getting very excited about our camp, especially since it is now less than 2 weeks away!!

Last week you should have recieved 3 notes: a consent form, a health form, and a list of what to bring. If you didn’t receive these please check your child’s bag or book tray, failing that see me or Bev for replacements. It is important that we get these back promptly so that we can let the campsite know of any relevant information.

Thankyou to the many families that have already paid. If you have not already paid please do so promptly as payment is now due. If you are having problems paying please see me or Sue in the front office as we can usually sort something out, and we’d hate for anyone to miss out on the experience of camp.

Some of the activities that we will be doing are: visiting the Whale Centre; Granite Island Penguin Tour; visiting Urrimbirra Wildlife Sanctuary; exploring wind power through kite making and flying (this of course links to our current Unit of Inquiry – Energy).
